There Could Be a Female Wolverine in the next 'X-Men' Movie

Bryan Singer says he has pitched it to Fox.

So, Hugh Jackman has basically confirmed that the upcoming Wolverine 3, based on the ‘Old Man Logan’ storyline, is going to be his last appearance as the character. But the X-Men movies make far too much money and Wolverine is too popular for the character to just be laid to rest. So what are they going to do when he leave? Possibly replace him with a teenage girl.

Ok, a little context. In the comics there’s a character called X-23. She’s essentially a teenage girl clone of Wolverine, with all his powers, but only two claws on her hands, and an extra one on her feet. A 2014 storyline called ‘The Death of Wolverine’ resulted in original Logan Wolverine, well, dying, and now X-23 has taken over his name and costume (Logan will clearly be back at some point though).

Director Bryan Singer has been doing press for the new X-Men Apocalypse movie, Fandango asked him about the Wolverine situation, and the possibility of X-23 appearing on-screen. His response was:

I have discussed that with the studio. I actually initially pitched the X-Force and the female.

X-Force, for those of you who don’t know, is the name of several spin-off X-teams, a movie version of which has been in pre-production for a while (it’s in “the earliest script stage” right now, according to Singer). X-23 has been a member of X-Force, so it would be a good place to introduce her.
