Larry David is no longer the only comedy god self-tasked with relentlessly curbing the general public's enthusiasm, as Louis C.K. has clearly taken a few pages from the LD playbook since wrapping the most recent season of Louie. However, unlike the post-Curb teases of Larry David, Louis C.K. is now sounding downright definitive about the finality of Louie and its (seemingly permanent) absence from the future of television.
"It turned out to be, for me, the best thing I ever made," C.K. toldHitfix's Alan Sepinwall when talking about the season finale of his latest creation, Horace and Pete. "It may be because Louie feels very far in the past. I can't feel that show anymore." According to the comedian whose Easter was recently ruined by an unsightly display, Horace and Pete has offered him the exact opposite: "I am drenched in the feelings that this show and making this show gave me and revealed for me."
Horace and Pete, which Louis C.K. has been releasing via a relatively unconventional method involving email blasts, is a fine show indeed. In fact, as noted byUproxx, C.K. is submitting the series for consideration in the drama category at the Emmys. But the thought of no more Louie for the rest of our brief and inconsequential time here on this planet? Too much.
Perhaps, if there is any justice left in this world, Larry David and Louis C.K. will simply team up for a crossover finale mega-event called Curb Your Louie-asm that will only be available via snail-mailed LaserDiscs. One can only hope.
