After having an amazing year Alicia Vikander's star continues to rise. Last year Vikander was everywhere, starring in one of 2015's best, the thrilling Ex Machina. She also co-starred in The Danish Girl for which she earned a Best Supporting Actress Oscar. Next for Vikander could be leading a franchise, reportsThe Hollywood Reporter, now that she's signed on as Lara Croft for the Tomb Raider reboot.

Up for the Lara Croft role previously held by Angelina Jolie for two films was Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Daisy Ridley, who addressed rumors she was circulating the reboot by saying she was waiting for someone to say "Let's do it." New reports say Ridley was never really in the running, but that Cara Delevingne was. Delevingne will be hitting the big screen in this summer's tent pole Suicide Squad playing Enchantress.

According toTHR, Vikander will play a: "young and untested Croft fighting to survive her first adventure." Croft is an archaeologist with a knack for adventure, who like her name says, raids tombs. The last Tomb Raider film, Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life was released in 2003.

In the mean time audiences will next see Vikander in the upcoming Jason Bourne film.
