The O.C., a.k.a. the closest thing to televised Shakespeare within the last century, is finally heading to a major streaming platform. All four seasons of the Josh Schwartz classic are set to hit Hulu in April, according toVulture. The move comes a few short (long?) months after the entire series became available on CW Seed, a nice gesture from the CW gods that's easily bested by this long-awaited Hulu announcement.
In addition to swiftly destroying your lame friend's excuses for not already being a massive O.C. head, news of Ryan and Seth's existential exploits making their way to a major streaming service also provides a reason (as if we need one) to revisit this equally classic (and kind of spoilery?) Saturday Night Live skit:
Despite previously hesitating to gift Hulu with its programming, Warner Bros. Television (O.C. producer) is clearly interested in putting that tension behind them. In addition to the joyous arrival of The O.C., Smallville and Southland (starring The O.C.'s Ben McKenzie) will also join the party. Signs of a thawing, as noted by Vulture, became apparent last year when Warner Bros. teamed with the streaming platform for the James Francotime-bender11.22.63.
Your move, Netflix. Maybe try to score those highly coveted Street Sharks rights?
