Following years of annoying AF speculation and false starts, we are finally getting a proper Lonely Island movie. After recently unveiling the film's fresh new title and poster on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Andy Samberg and company have unleashed the first trailer for the very on-brand ridiculousness that is Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping.
Formerly known as both Conner4Real and Top Secret Untitled Lonely Island Movie, Poster follows successful singer/rapper Conner4Real (Andy Samberg) as he attempts to deal with the his flop of a second album. "This one is actually on a much bigger scale," Samberg told Jimmy Kimmel earlier this month, comparing Popstar’s production to last year’s HBO mockumentary 7 Days in Hell. "This is a real movie."
As evidenced by this gently R-rated trailer, Popstar is thankfully stacked with relevant cameos. Simon Cowell, Sarah Silverman, Usher, DJ Khaled, Maya Rudolph, and a ton of other alleged Conner4Real fans (a.k.a. "connfidants") are set to appear in Samberg's slice of Oscar bait.
This ridiculousness—co-penned by usual Lonely Island suspects Samberg, Akiva Schaffer, and Jorma Taccone—hits theaters on June 3. Take the whole fam!
