The new wave of VR technology has been buzzing on the lowkey for a while now — but no one you actually know actually has an Oculus Rift yet. It’s just something you read about on Wired.

That’s about to change though: Sony have announced that Playstation VR is coming October. It’ll be a worldwide release, costing £349 in the UK. Games in production include a Star Wars title form Electronic Arts, Eagle Flight (Ubisoft), EVE: Valkyrie (CCP Games),Headmaster (Frame Interactive), Rez Infinite (Enhance Games), and Wayward Sky (Uber Entertainment). There will also be a free download from the Playstation Store called The Playroom, which sounds like it’ll be the Playstation VR equivalent of Wii Sports.

Will this be the next evolution in gaming, or will it just end up at the back of the cupboard with your Eye Toy, Kinnect and dancemat?
