Where Are The Kids From 'Kidulthood' Now, Ten Years Later?

Trife was killed at the end of Kidulthood, so obviously Aml Ameen couldn’t return for either of the sequels. It did lead to a string of roles on British TV, in things like The Bill and Silent Witness. During the 2010s he’s now made the move the US, appearing in Hollywood films including The Butler, The Maze Runner and George Lucas’ WWII fighter plane movie Red Tails. Most recently, he had a lead role in the Wachowski’s crazy, unloved Netflix show Sense8.

Following Kidulthood, Adam Decon became a common face in British urban cinema in movies like Shank, Payback Season and Victim. His magnum opus though was writing, directing and starring in the genre’s first parody, Anuvhood. It was surprise box office smash and won Deacon a Rising Star BAFTA. His recent career has been blighted by some high-profile legal troubles, but also appeared in Channel 4 ‘s critically acclaimed police comedy drama Babylon.

After writing Kidulthood, Noel Clarke made his directorial debut (as well moving up to a lead role) in the sequel Adulthood. Since then, he’s been a prolific British filmmaker (writing and/or directing films like 4,3,2,1, Fast Girls and The Anomaly), and as well as an actor (his biggest role probably being in star Trek: Into Darkness). 

Red Madrell was plucked from a local college to play Alisa in the film. She’s probably had the least high profile career of any of the main kids, which is a shame because she’s really the heart and soul of the film. She has consistently worked in TV though, including being in the E4 shows Skins and Cucumber. 

The daughter of one of Britain’s finest actors/ online gambling spokesman Ray Winstone, Jaime WInstone has been a common sight in British film and TV over the last ten years. Her film appearances include Donkey Punch, Made In Dagenham and Wild Bill, and on TV she’s been in Charlie Brooker’s ‘zombies in the big Brother house’ series Dead Set (alongside Adam Deacon), Sky One’s Mad Dogs and most recently BBC One’s Foyle’s War.

Like a lot of the cast, Femi Oyeniran has been in plenty of British urban moves post-Kidulthood, including Anuvahood and slasher film Demons Never Die.  He also moved into directing with the comedy It’s A Lot. Away from films, he has also appeared as a commentator on Sky News and the BBC.

The son of British actor Timothy Spall, Rafe Spall has gone from Brit flicks like Hot Fuzz to big US movies such as Prometheus, Life of Pi, and this year’s Oscar nominated The Big Short. He’s also had a sideline as a romantic leading man in One Day and I Give It  A Year. He also starred in the Christmas special of Black Mirror.

Kidulthood fell in between Nicholas Hoult’s transition between being the cute kid from About A Boy to become a proper handsome leading man-type. It was in E4’s Skins that he really made his name, as the arrogant popular kid Tony. Since then he’s been in a host of big US films, including playing the Beast in X-Men. Most recently he was unrecognisable in Mad Max Fury Road.
