Being famous has its perks but, as Gwyneth Paltrow can attest to, it also comes with some heavy baggage.

The actress just lost her case against 66-year-old Dante Soiu, who is accused of stalking her over the years, Billboardreports. He was previously committed to a mental institution after being found not guilty by reason of insanity for sending her explicit messages and sex toys. Soiu says he reached out to her again to ask for forgiveness, but the letters were not well received. He sent 66 in total.

Last week, Paltrow cried on the stand when asked if she feared for her Family’s safety. "I felt very upset by it. It defied logic, and I found it very, very upsetting," she said. "This was something I had been through a very long and traumatic experience with already."

It looks like her emotional plea did not sway the jury. While the six men and six women found his actions to be appalling, they concluded that it was not federal stalking. His newest correspondence contained no pornographic imagery like the earlier letters and that probably helped his situation.

Soiu was found not guilty and lives on to write another day. Wonderful.
