Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson have been going in hard with the promotion for Zoolander 2. They’ve taken to the runway for Paris Fashion Week, added that ‘Blue Steel’ touch for a new FIAT Commercial and even feature on the front cover for the latest issue of Vogue. But now the comedy duo have made life imitate art, literally, by posing as window mannequins at the Valentino Store in Rome.
Ben Stiller, who reprises his role as Derek Zoolannder for the sequel, posted a tweet saying: “Hey Rome I hear Derek Zoolander and Hansel are modeling at Valentino store window in a little while.” True to his word Derek Zoolander and Hansel (who’s ‘so hot right now’) appeared for fans and bystanders whilst blowing kisses and throwing up peace signs.
Is this a new from of aggressive marketing, is it social pandering or are Stiller and Wilson actually doing this because they thought ‘hey, this will be fun’, who knows? At least the people of Rome got a good kick out of it.
Zoolander 2 will be out in cinemas on February 12.
