Amy Adams’ newest role might seem a little familiar. The actress will grace the big screen this summer in the superhero blockbuster Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice as reporter (and Clark Kent’s significant other) Lois Lane. She will also play a reporter in the not yet released filmSharp Objects but her character has a bit of an edge.

According to Deadline, the redhead is attached to star in the motion picture adaptation of the book by Gillian Flynn, who also wrote Gone Girl. UnReal co-creator Marti Noxon will act as showrunner and Wild’s Jean-Marc Vallée is set to direct.

The thriller follows a reporter named Camille Preaker who did a small stint in a psychiatric hospital. She returns to her hometown to follow the murders of two preteen girls. It’s in that small town where she must also reconnect with her estranged mother and half-sister.

Deadline’s sources say the film is being shopped to cable networks and streaming networks. Until it finds a distributor, however, the project may very well remain in creative purgatory.
