In case you totally spaced and missed it, Creed is currently still packing it out at your local cineplex while simultaneously being a very good movie. The Rocky spin-off and/or sequel, starring an actually punchedMichael B. Jordan, garnered virtually unanimous praise in the form of stacked cash and glowing reviews. When understandably pressed about the possibility of a Creed sequel in a new interview with Variety, franchise mastermind Sylvester Stallone wasted no time elaborating on the words of MGM CEO Gary Barber.

"There’s no doubt that we’re making a Creed 2," Barber confirms. Not interested in simply letting the hype stay vague but promising, Stallone doubles down: "I know [Creed director Ryan Coogler] is probably going to be gone for a couple years," Stallone says of the recent announcement that Coogler would be directing Marvel's forthcoming Black Panther. "So there will be a quandary on: Do we work with another director and have Ryan produce, or do we wait?" Adding that the current climate for cinema revolves around "a diminishing time acceptance" of sequels, Stallone seems confident in two very different but equally promising possible paths for Creed 2.

"Think of The Godfather 2," Stallone says, effectively bringing the hype to a new level. "That’s what [Coogler] was thinking of, which was kind of ambitious." That ambition, of course, would include a full-on reunion with Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers). Stallone recently enjoyed a bout of "play fighting" with Weathers, noting that the franchise staple appears to be "still in good shape." If the Godfather path to sequel goodness doesn't work out (please make it work, Sly!), dude is not short on back-up plans. Another potential story is described as a more traditionally "linear" narrative revolving around the continued battles of Adonis Creed (Jordan), including a potential fight with a "ferocious, big Russian."

Of course, we could also just stop messing around and finally deliver the Godfather / Rocky crossover event we all so clearly deserve. Your call, Sly.
