Imagine how much three tonnes of cocaine is worth… About £500 million. That’s how much the police in Spain have seized, as well as arresting 12 suspects in connection with the drug bust.

Eight of the suspected smugglers are from Britain whilst the other four are from the Netherlands and Spain. Police recovered the drugs in the north-western Galicia region and it is thought to be the largest narcotics bust in the since 1999.

In a statement regarding the drug bust and subsequent arrests the Spanish police said:

“12 people were detained including those transporting the merchandise, who were Spanish, and the sellers and buyers of the drugs, who were Dutch and British respectively”

Spain plays an important role as an entry point for South American drug traffickers and according to the BBC, just last month they uncovered more than a tonne of cocaine in a shipment from Columbia which was ‘disguised as wood and charcoal’.

Right now there’s someone out there, somewhere, who's either missing a helluva lot of coke or is £500 million down. Either way they must be PO’ed right now.

We imagined this would be the reaction when they get the news over the phone...
