When you’re Mark Zuckerberg, you have to figure out what to do with all your billions of dollars. Sure, you can give loads of it away, but you can also make really cool sci-fi things a reality. Like building a robot butler.

Yes, Zuckerberg has announced he wants to build an AI system that will run his whole house and look after his family. In December he and his wife Pricilla Chan announced the birth of the first daughter, and his fatherly interests have obviously kicked his robot-wanting desires into high gear. “My personal challenge for 2016 is to build a simple AI to run my home and help me with my work,” he wrote. “You can think of it kind of like Jarvis in Iron Man.”

But what about people’s fears that such artificial intelligence systems could soon become too powerful and enslave us all? "I think we can build AI so it works for us and helps us," he wrote. "Some people fear-monger about how AI is a huge danger, but that seems far-fetched to me and much less likely than disasters due to widespread disease, violence, etc." Just don’t blame us when your fridge starts bombarding you with Farmville invitations.
