Jennifer Lawrence Blasts a Foreign Reporter at the Golden Globes for Using His Phone: Rude or Nah?

Many speculate that the reporter was simply using his phone to translate.

While pop scholars continue to debate the merits of Jennifer Lawrence's purported "persona problem," a quick moment of possible rudeness from Sunday's Golden Globes festivities has everyone hitting Twitter with some Hunger Games-level dedication. During a presumably excruciating (for all involved) press conference, JLaw proceeded to interrupt a foreign reporter for using his phone while asking the Joy star a question about the forthcoming Academy Awards. Sadly, JLaw also used the word "bro," which is of course the real tragedy here.

"You can't live your whole life behind your phone, bro," Lawrence tells the reporter as he reportedly asks her a question while reading from his phone. "You can't do that. You gotta live in the now." As the reporter attempts to start his question again, Lawrence interrupts to offer some additional thoughts free of the word "bro," though sadly not free of anti-phone sentiments. "We're at the Golden Globes," Lawrence says, appearing to imply that the reporter was completely unaware of where he was currently located. "If you put your phone down, you'd know that."

Obvious bro tragedy aside, what exactly is going on here? The reporter in question, according to the Daily Mail, is E! Latin America's Juan Pablo Fernández-Feo. As theorized by many on Twitter, he could very well have been using his phone to simply read an English translation of his questions. As for Lawrence's assumption that Fernández-Feo was so into his phone that he didn't even know where he was? Repeated listens of the interrupted question would appear to show that the question was aimed at getting Lawrence's thoughts on her Oscar chances in light of Joy's Golden Globes performance.

Thankfully, Jennifer Lawrence has never once used a phone in her entire life:

The silver lining here, if we choose to see it, is that society now has someone other than their grandparents putting them on blast for simply using the predominant method of communication in an appropriate setting.
