On Saturday night in Vegas porn star James Deen was up for 33 awards at the Adult Video News Awards. He won two, which is a surprise considering all the controversy surrounding the actor as of late. Earlier last year adult film actress Stoya, who used to date Deen, accused the actor of rape. Her allegations were followed by eight others, women who claim that Deen sexually assaulted them both on and off screen.

Last night Deen won a prize for Best Group Sex Scene and one for Best Double Penetration scene. It's one award less than he received last year.

For a long time Deen was seen as a feminist figure in porn, which was quickly debunked once Stoya spoke out against the adult film actor on Twitter. Following her accusations, FarrahAbraham, best known for her stint on Teen Mom spoke up against Deen. Later Tori Lux, another adult film actress, came forward and said that Deen had hit her in the face "with an open palm." More and more of these stories came to the surface and Evil Angel and Kink, two sites Deen was affiliated with, later stated they would no longer work with him.

Considering all the negative attention Deen has been getting, it's surprising that people are still so quick to give him all these accolades. According to the Wrap, Deen wasn't nominated for one award at the XBiz Awards ceremony, a rival to AVN that took place earlier this month. Stoya hosted that ceremony.

Meanwhile, Deen continues to deny the rape accusations. In an interview with The Daily Beast from December, he said that he was "completely baffled" at Stoya's accusations, and went on to speak about their volatile relationship, other accusations, and porn etiquette in general.
