In a smart move FOX announced at the Television Critics Association press tour on Friday that it was ordering up another season of hit TV show Empire, this being its third. The show, which some thought would be suffering from success after its huge first season, managed to turn out 16 million people for its season two premiere this past fall. Pushing past somewhat of a sophomore slump the show continued to dominate the ratings thereafter in the coveted 18-49 category with 17.7 million viewers. The show's success has even led to talk about a possible spin-off, though no plans have been set.

"American treasure" Taraji P. Henson won a Golden Globe (her first) for Best Actress in a TV Series (Drama) for her forever fierce and highly quotable portrayal of Empire's Cookie Lyons. Henson accepted the award saying, "Who knew that playing an ex convict would take me all around the globe?" Empire was up for Best TV Drama at the Golden Globes, but lost.

The Lyons return for the second half of season 2 on March 30 at 9 p.m. ET.
