Denzel Washington, actor and American goddamn hero, received distinguished recognition for his lifetime achievements over the course of his career (for which we are eternally indebted tbh). With a moving message from friend and collaborator Tom Hanks, Washington took the stage to accept the honorary Cecil B. DeMille Award for achievement.
Washington was accompanied by his family, with the exception of his son who he noted was still at school completing his thesis (family goals). He fumbled momentarily for his glasses before improvising the rest of what turned out to be a very moving speech.
