In last week’s Superman/Wonder Woman Annual #2 from DC Comics, there’s a scene set in the Shimshal region of Pakistan, where Superman battles some monsters. It’s all good, apart from one caption that eagle-eyed readers noticed:
All {dialogue} translated from Pakistanian
Heads up DC: the main language of Pakistan is Urdu. There are over a dozen languages and dialects spoken in the country, but no-one speaks ‘Pakistanian’ there. That’s because there’s no such language as Pakistanian. Look, just because your comics feature flying aliens and Amazon gods, it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t fact-check stuff.
Obviously, people were quick to school DC on Twitter.
