A Brooklyn teen is in custody after allegedly killing her mom and mom’s boyfriend, and living with their decomposing corpses days afterward.

15-year-old Destiny Garcia is charged with a double homicide after police discovered the bodies of her mom, Rosie Sanchez, and mom’s live-in boyfriend Anderson Nunez, WABCreports. Sanchez was found sitting in a chair with multiple gunshot wounds to the chest while Nunez’s body was found laying on the living room floor with gunshot and stab wounds.

The two were believed to have been killed on Dec. 27 and Garcia just left their bodies in place. She even went to Time Square on New Year’s Eve to ring in 2016. During questioning, the teen says her mom had been physically abusive toward her on at least one occasion but police say they don’t think the deaths were the result of her fending for her life.

"We don't believe this is at all, initially, an act of self defense. She went and got a gun from another individual that we're trying to find right now, to commit the homicide," NYPD's detectives chief Robert Boyce told reporters.

After confessing to the crimes, Garcia was charged as adult with two counts of second degree murder and an additional two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.
