For the third year in a row, #love dominated Instagram's hashtag universe with just enough resilience to once again take the top spot in 2015. As previously reported, Kendall Jenner's heart-shaped hair art was the 'gram's most-liked photo of the year, meaning hearts and love and general positivity appeared to reign relatively supreme on the photo-sharing app this year.
"The act of double-tapping or loving each other’s images and videos has become an important interaction between people," David Schwen, of @dschwen and #interactivegrams fame, said in a statement on Instagram's blog. "There are people across the world that I have never met in person, yet I’m able to send an affirmation of love by double-tapping their photo."
Though Twitter has yet to release their own year-end statistics,CNN Money notes that #LoveWins currently stands as one of the site's "most viral hashtags" after garnering 6.2 million tweets following the Supreme Court's historic and triumphant ruling on same-sex marriage earlier this year.
You know, love seems pretty cool. Let's all give it a go.
