The Kissimmeepolice officer at the center of the disturbing video above is now facing felony child abuse charges, stemming from an attack that reportedly left the 13-year-old student with a sprained ankle and wrist. "The respect level that he used to have for police is not there as it should be," the boy’s mother, Alexis Richmond, tells WFTV. "Justice should be served. He should get time for what he did to my son."

The incident reportedly began with the officer trying to "diffuse" some sort of situation between the kid and his mother, though Richmond disputes this and argues that no police should have been needed to deal with a simple case of a "kid being a kid." Richmond has hired legal assistance and is currently "mulling a lawsuit," according to WFTV.

The officer, Mario Badia, was suspended with pay after his arrest and has reportedly earned "more than $1,500" since being placed on paid leave. "He came in with such a hostile manner," adds Richmond, "like he was ready for war."
