A flight traveling from Hong Kong to Los Angeles experienced what it's like to put on your life vests and prepare for an emergency landing. As in, while over the Pacific Ocean. Passenger Ethan Williams, 25, recorded the whole thing from start to finish on his phone, including the moment that the emergency water landing was announced.

"All the flight attendants are running around like crazy and warning signs going on," says Williams at the beginning of the edited video. "Hopefully it's not anything too bad and we'll be alright."

"We've just an announcement, we've got an emergency landing," Williams says a few second later. "We don't know what's going."

At one point, he pans the camera so you can see everyone in the cabin putting on their life vests, which is only mildly terrifying. Flight attendants remind everyone to stay calm, and instruct passengers to take off their shoes. Which, again, sounds innocuous but is terrifying to think about: Heavy shoes can drag you down in the ocean.

In the end, the crew announces that there will be a "normal landing" on a U.S. air base on an island off the coat of Alaska, which is like, PHEW! "That's really good news, but we still don't know why," says Williams. "But it doesn't really matter as long as we land OK." That's the spirit, Ethan.
