Seinfeld critics have pretty much killed any chance of Larry David bringing back Curb Your Enthusiasm for a ninth season, since last year David said critiques of the Seinfeld series finale have made him less compelled to finish Curb. But Curb star Jeff Garlin is up for a new season—a new episode hasn’t aired since 2011—and he said the possibility of that happening is “51%.”

Garlin, currently starring in The Goldbergs, told journalists at the Television Critics Association press tour that in order to get a new season the following process needed to happen:

“Uhhh, I got an idea, I think I’m gonna write the show – That’s Step 1,” Garlin said. According to Garlin, David will write six or seven episodes before he says, “Yeah, I’ll finish it.”

As much as Garlin and Curb fans alike may be brimming with hope for the show’s return Garlin gave a sobering reminder,

“Larry David is so goddamned rich he doesn’t have to do anything unless it’s good.”

Do it for the kids, Larry!
