Body camera footage has surfaced showing the fatal shooting of an unarmed man by police in Utah last year.

Dillon Taylor was shot and killed by police in Salt Lake City last August. According to the New York Daily News, authorities received a call about a man who allegedly flashed a gun nearly a local 7-Eleven, and the 20-year-old reportedly matched the suspect's description. The footage shows police arriving on the scene, finding Taylor with his hands in the waistband of his pants as he walks away from the officers:

When he finally turns and faces Officer Bron Cruz and his raised firearm, Taylor continues walking backwards for several paces. He then pulls out his hands and is hit with two bullet to his torso.

The video goes on to show the man lying face down in a swelling pool of blood while described by one officer as not conscious and not breathing.

Taylor was handcuffed, and a subsequent search showed that he was unarmed.

Last fall, the Salt Lake County District Attorney's Office determined that the shooting was justified, noting that Taylor made eye contact with one of the officers. As a result, Officer Cruz was cleared of any misconduct.
