Attack On Titan is probably the biggest—and sickest—anime to drop in recent years. Set in a steampunk-influenced alternate past, it’s about the last remains of humanity fighting of naked people-eating giants. It’s crazy violent, totally unpredictable, full of great action and surprisingly affecting when beloved characters (frequently) meet their ends.
Since it’s so popular both in Japan and the West, it’s inevitable that there’s a live action film in the works—two actually—and here’s the trailer for the first one. It looks pretty dope to be honest. Suitably dark and explosion-y, tho those scary dead-eyed giants don’t look quite as creepy in realistic CGI than they do in animation. The first film is due in August in Japan, but no word on a Western release yet.
