The man who opened fire at George Zimmerman in Florida earlier this week has been arrested, authorities say.

Zimmerman, 31, was injured on Monday after Matthew Apperson fired into his vehicle in Lake Mary, Fla., shattering a window. Mark NeJame, Apperson's lawyer, said that his client acted in self-defense.

According to the Associated Press, Apperson turned himself in yesterday and was subsequently charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, firing a missile into an occupied conveyance, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The Associated Press adds that Zimmerman and Apperson were involved in two confrontations last year; neither ended in charges being filed.
