Taking a page from the Jerry Seinfeld book of proper TV finale tributes, AMC's sister networks — BBC America, IFC, Sundance TV, and We TV — will go dark during the Mad Men series finale on Sunday. Additionally, the networks will air a special message of commemoration during the finale's premiere. In a statement, AMC president Charlie Collier reiterated the resounding importance of the iconic series to both the network itself and the medium of television at large.

“Turning AMC over to Mad Men and airing every episode of every season as a lead-in to the finale on Sunday seems a fitting way to continue celebrating what this series has meant to the fans, to television and to our network. We are also enormously appreciative of our sister networks who are paying tribute to this remarkable program that has had such an impact on our entire company.”

AMC is also partnering with Film Independent and Jason Reitman to present a live read of the classic Mad Men episode "The Wheel," followed by a screening of the finale hosted by creator Matthew Weiner. The event takes place on Sunday at Ace Hotel in Los Angeles.
