The film with one of the most studied screenplays of all time, the 1993 Bill Murray-starring classic Groundhog Day, will now have the opportunity to work its uniquely existential magic on Broadway. According to Deadline, the same team behind Matilda is building the musical adaptation of the universally praised film co-written and directed by the late Harold Ramis.

The Groundhog Day musical was little more than a publicly expressed twinkle in Matilda composer/lyricist Tim Minchin's eye just last year, but is now picking up legitimate steam ahead of its March 2017 opening. Danny Rubin, who co-wrote the original film with Ramis, will serve as the writer on the production alongside director Matthew Warchus, costume designer Rob Howell, and choreographer Peter Darling.

Those privy to the original film's genius will fondly remember the scene wherein Murray proclaims "I am a god" to a calmly aghast Andie MacDowell, which should make everyone reading this long for the inclusion of Kanye West's Yeezus centerpiece "I Am a God (feat. God)" in the Broadway adaptation.

Tim Minchin, if you're reading this — give Yeezy a call.
