Furious 7 probably won't be nominated for Best Picture, but at least it's having a good opening weekend. The sequel (what do you even call the seventh film? Septquel?) brough in $67.3 million on Friday and is posed to hit $150 million by the end of the weekend. Despite the franchise's success and the fact that it is the late Paul Walker's last movie, industry analysts were predicting a much lower opening.

The movie was originally supposed to come out last summer, but after Walker was killed in a 2013 car accident, the fans, actors and studio weren't sure it would ever see the light of day. With the help of CGI and Walker's two brothers, Furious 7 was finished and hit theaters yesterday. The movie had a $190 million budget (that's not including marketing the thing), so it's not exactly breaking even yet, but as the Wrap points out, it may very well be the first film of 2015 to hit $1 billion.
