A Second 'Insidious 3' Trailer Is Coming Tomorrow

Chapter 3 marks the directorial debut for Leigh Whannel who has written all of the Insidious chapters, and three of the original Saw films.

Producer Jason Blum recently said that he'd like to connect some of his supernatural haunting films "Marvel-style." They won't team up, but there will be "Easter Eggs" left in Insidious: Chapter 3 and Sinister 2. That sounds nefarious—another cinematic connected universe—but we suppose that a different plane of existence where all the awful things live, well, that was explored with comedy in Cabin in the Woods. And with the supernatural it could be terrifying.

"We’re not close to an Avengers, but I do like the idea of having the worlds collide in the different franchises we work on. That’s a really cool idea," Blum told CinemaBlend. "I want to continue to do that."

With Blum thinking larger, he's got a third film in the Insidious series—but it's actually a prequel. And now we have the first trailer. Insidious: Chapter 3 will take place prior to the Lambert haunting, and will reveal why Elise Rainier (Lin Shay) reluctantly agreed to use her ability to contact the spirits that are haunting a teenage girl (Stefanie Scott).

With all this building hype, Blum also has a short teaser for the second Insidious 3 trailer—the proper trailer will debut tomorrow night. Watch the fifteen second flash above. Watch more tomorrow.

The third chapter—which took place before the other two chapters and might feature an allusion to the 1960s serial killer featured in Sinister—will be released on June 5. Chapter 3 marks the directorial debut for Leigh Whannel who has written all of the Insidious chapters, and three of the original Saw films. Whannel takes the reins from James Wan who exited the series to make Furious 7.
