One former high school teacher had students literally lining up at her house for some one on one time outside of the classroom, if you catch our drift. This of course ended like most stories about teachers having sex with students do: badly. Erica Lynn Mesa, 28, who taught math at Colonial Forge High School in Stafford, Va.—alongside her husband (more on that later)—has pleaded guilty to charges originating from her September 2014 arrest where she was caught having sex with several students, ages 16 to 18. Other charges included her sending nude photos of herself to a 16-year-old student, giving Mesa two counts of electronic solicitation of a minor. Mesa now faces up to 22 years in prison.
Mesa told Stafford Sheriff’s deputies in her confession that she had had sex with the boys, one of them underage, because it made her feel “attractive and wanted.” She also cited two other occasions where she had had sex with students, one of them being on a student’s eighteenth birthday in a commuter lot. For the other occasion, Mesa had several students at her house while her husband was away. Mesa said one boy had to wait in the basement while she had sex with another boy upstairs.
The poor sap married to Mesa was Keith Mesa, social studies teacher and volleyball coach. The couple, married for two years, is no longer together.
Mesa’s sentencing is set to begin on May 21.
