Politicians normally roll with a crew of bodyguards and secret service goons, ready to dive in and take a bullet at the first sign of trouble. But Nir Barkat, the mayor of Jerusalem, didn’t need any of entourage when he wrestled a knife-wielding attacker to the ground himself.
When an 18-year old Palestinian stabbed a passer-by on a busy crossroads, the mayor’s bodyguards instantly pulled his weapon on him, and he dropped the knife. But then the mayor himself dives in, and spears the attacker to the ground.
