Contrary to what the exploding talking heads told you last week, Hannah Davis' vagina was not on display on the cover of the annual Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue. No, it was a fraction her mons pubis. And flashing that fleshy area has become a new magazine-photo-shoot and red carpet trend

The mons pubis is the mound of flesh on top of a woman's pubic bone between the top of the panty-line and the labia majora. The New York Times opines,"With hard-core pornography available to anyone with a laptop and a credit card, Sports Illustrated has to raise the stakes if it wants to stay relevant." But in the meantime, get used to seeing the fleshy photogenic mound.

Last Week Tonight with John Oliver explains why Sports Illustrated might eventually have to show more mons pubis—or maybe even the full vajayjay—in a montage of  how the publisher has positioned this increasingly irrelevant issue as its biggest issue. Every year.
