A chemical explosion in northeast Spain has left an ominous orange cloud looming above.

According to Reuters, the cloud began emerged over the chemical plant's Igualada location, which is just 40 miles from Barcelona. Officials say the blast was the result of two chemicals volatile chemicals mixing. Authorities claim that nitric acid was one of the chemicals involved:

The regional government of Catalonia said in a statement that the blast appeared to have been caused by two chemicals coming into contact during delivery to the plant, owned by Spanish company Simar.

Three people were injured in the explosion, and RT reports that the severity of their injuries remains unknown at this point. An order for residents of towns in the area to stay indoors has since been lifted.
