Blake Lively recently became a mother (parental duties shared with hubby, Ryan Reynolds). So perhaps she's not thinking of calendar months, and is just savoring the moments. But February, which has been Black History Month since 1976 (it was expanded and renamed from "Negro History Week" to an entire month, during America's Bi-Centennial celebration), is probably not the best month to talk about black-coping-mechanisms being the inspiration for her blueberry muffin recipe. Muffins that—according to her website—would cost a measly $168 to make.

The very brief history lesson above is appropriate, because Lively has been operating her own lifestyle website— called Preservewhich strives to highlight certain American pastimes that she can help "restore to their original glory." Read her copywriter's description of her yummy muffins (of suffering).

B's Blueberry Stud Muffins:

"The blues began in the deep South, as a means to voice injustice and hardship in the African American community [from sharecropping right on up to Jim Crow!]—same place most great American music comes from. It has evolved to influence all kinds of popular music, and inspire many to take respite in good old, down and out, soulful singing. But it’s more than music. It’s a lingering mood that we kind of like, especially in the midst of the Valentine’s fuss. It’s a gardenia tucked behind your ear in tribute. Its lyrics are timeless, but the tunes are like a time capsule brimming with a thousand love letters lost. The Blues evoke a time and a place [of suffering, inequality, and fear!] that romances us with nostalgia. Let’s go there. Blue looks good on you, baby."

We are pretty sure that Lively didn't wanna stir anything up here except her $125 batter (the extra $43 goes to her suggested "let's spoon" spoon set), but such prose written about roots of sorrowful songs being a place you wanna go back to, doesn't look good on you, honey. But then again, maybe Lively is just thinking of wanting to go back and revisit that lovely marriage that she and Reynolds had. (It is almost Valentine's Day after all.) This picture-perfect couple was hitched back in 2012 at "American's Most Photographed Plantation." Preserve it.
