Adventure Time is headed to the big screen. It's actually surprising this hasn't happened sooner—animated movies often equal big bucks for studios. Chris McKay, who was an executive producer on The Lego Movie will direct and creator Pendleton Ward will be involved with writing and production.

Deadline thinks "Adventure Time has the same franchise potential [as The Lego Movie] as it cuts across all demos to become a cultural phenom." The show first hit Cartoon Network in 2010 after a similar short from 2007 went viral. It's turned out to be one of the most popular shows on the network.

Unfortunately, there's no timeline from Warner Bros. for the film. You can catch the next episode on Cartoon Network on March 5.
