Guys, there's a reason Hollywood keeps making sequel after sequel and remakes things that were just fine the first time. It's because we keep going to see them. The surely unnecessary Taken 3 had one of the best January openings ever this weekend, after Cloverfield and The Devil Inside.
It made $14.7 million on Friday alone (the original garnered only $9.4 million, but Taken 2 opened to $18.4 million) and is expected to hit just under $40 million for the weekend. Selma and Unbroken came in and numbers two and three, respectively, with The Hobbit: the Battle of the Five Armies falling to fourth place.
