Mitt Romney Swears He Isn't Running for President Again in 2016

Scout's honor.

Despite the murmurs, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney insists that he has no plans to run for president once again next year.

According to the Huffington Post, Romney prepared the following words for a conference call about his plans that was scheduled to take place today:

After putting considerable thought into making another run for president, I’ve decided it is best to give other leaders in the Party the opportunity to become our next nominee,

Back in October, Romney told Bloomberg, "I'm not planning on running, and I've got nothing new on that story." However, the Huffington Post notes that he told donors this month that he was weighing the possibility of another run, and was even considering putting his old campaign team back together.

Prior to losing the 2012 presidential election, Romney was defeated by Arizona Sen. John McCain for the Republican party's nod in 2008. Time will tell if he keeps his word, or elects to come back for more.
