Having already rolled out several changes to Windows in September of 2014, today Microsoft further revealed some of the major changes coming when they release the Windows 10 operating system.

While this rollout may not come for “three, four, or five months,” when it does the updates will be significant. There will be some similar updates as Apple iOS has received, such as syncing of messages and alerts across devices and Cortana, the Microsoft version of Siri and according to Vice President of the Operating Systems Group Joe Belfiore “the world's most personal digital assistant.”

They’ve also worked on standardizing apps such as Outlook across all devices, so that you’ll be able to access and work with your files whether you’re on a phone, tablet, or PC. They also teased their new web browser—codename: Project Spartan—but unveiled no further details.

Lastly, there’s a huge integration project going on between Xbox and Windows. With the new operating system, you’ll be able to to DVR clips from your own gaming adventures as well as stream games from Xbox One onto your Windows 10-enabled device.

So how much will this upgrade cost you? If you have Windows 7 or later…nothing. While this may seem like yet another Apple copycat move, it is nevertheless a nice change in tactics from the software giant.
