The recent Xbox One compilation Halo: The Master Chief Collection repackaged the first four Halo titles with shiny new features to rave reviews, but it is just a well-stuffed entrée compared to next year's new chapter, Halo 5: Guardians.

Recently, a few seconds of GIF footage of Halo 5's multiplayer enjoyed endless scrutiny and debate from fans of the series, but this hour-long multiplayer footage, courtesy of YouTuber Ready Up Live, shows off new and returning game modes, as well as some of the changes to the gameplay in closer detail.

Of particular note is the increased emphasis on climbing over obstacles and darting around the environment with jet boosts, something of a recent shooter trend seen in the likes of Titanfall and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. The game also looks gorgeous, and is the first entry in the Halo series to sport a framerate of 60fps straight out of the gate.

See what you think of the footage here.
