The practice of pre-writing obituaries for aging Hollywood stars is nothing new, so the fact that People Magazine had one ready to go for Kirk Douglas should not come as a surprise.
But, contrary to a post on People’s website, Douglas is very much alive.
The unfortunately premature obituary had been on the website for a while when it was discovered over the weekend, and was written at the end of September. While the former Spartacus star has been in poor health for several years, there has been nothing to indicate that Douglas’ demise was imminent.
So nice try, People. You may be powerful, but you can’t simply will people to die with the push of a button.
