Earlier this week Target stores in Australia banned the sales of Grand Theft Auto V for the game's "depictions of violence against women."
Video game fans in Australia, understandably upset at the retailers decision to pull the title, have decided to take matters into their own hands. A Change.org petition started by Australian gamers have started a campaign to ban the bible in Australia citing, "This misogynistic book makes a game of horrific violence against women.The petition has already locked in more that 20,000 signatures, all of which are happy to point out the inconsistencies of retailers selling a book that “encourages readers to murder women for entertainment”.
Snark aside, the gamers behind the petition are calling on Australian stores to pull the Bible from their shelves. K-mart and Target banned GTA 5 in response to an online petition which saw nearly 50,000 signatures, calling the game “misogynistic” and responsible for “fueling the epidemic of violence experienced by so many girls and women in Australia.” This is a royal rumble with only Rockstar or the Old Testament walking away intact.
