Wherever David O. Russell goes, several A-List stars are sure to follow.
Just as in Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle, Robert De Niro will join fellow Russell regulars Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper in Joy, the next Oscar-baiting film from the thrice Oscar-nominated director.
The film tells the story of Miracle Mop creator Joy Mangano (Lawrence), and De Niro himself confirmed that he will be playing Mangano’s father. A single mother of three, Mangano invented the mop—along with other household products—and built up her company to the point that she sold it to HSN in 1999 for a huge profit.
The film will be released around Christmastime next year.
