The Blade Runner sequel nobody was really asking for is going to be missing its signature director, as Ridley Scott told Variety that he is unlikely to helm the project.
“We talked at length about what it could be, and came up with a pretty strong three-act storyline, and it all makes sense in terms of how it relates to the first one,” he said, but added that there would be a new director on the film. Scott will still be involved, however; he developed the script along with Hampton Fancher, and will serve as a producer.
Scott also says that “Harrison Ford is very much part of this one,” but that his role will be reduced. “Really it's about finding him,” Scott says, “[Ford] comes in in the third act.”
No word yet on shooting or an expected premiere date, but hopefully Ford can avoid breaking any bones this time.
