Bitcoin has finally left the realm of "I've heard of this but I don't know what it is" and has entered "that's that thing with the Internet wedding, right?"

The digital currency popular among libertarians and hackers is now associated with marital bliss, after a Bitcoin entrepreneur married his sweetie this month at the "Coins in the Kingdom" conference. This conference is just what it sounds like—a gathering of Bitcoiners discussing Bitcoin...at Disney World.

This wedding might seem like a PR stunt for Bitcoin, but, really, it was a statement against government-sponsored marriage—or something like that. The couple reportedly got married using a "blockchain," which is Bitcoin's transaction database, a.k.a. really romantic. The benefit here seems to be that the couple getting married sans Uncle Sam by using a blockchain can do so on their terms. No word yet on whether or not a Bitcoin wedding saves on the exorbitant costs associated with exchanging vows.
