The same thing is true in most professions: if you commit a crime, you’re going to lose your job.

After Stephen Collins’ horrific confession of child sexual abuse came to light on Monday, he too has begun to suffer the consequences. He has lost pretty much every job he had, and on top of that will very likely have to face criminal charges as well.

The first domino was his role in Ted 2. Just days ago, Collins was excitedly tweeting about it:

He also was set to reprise his role as a newscaster on Scandal this season. He had already shot the episode, according to Collins himself:

That’s gone too, according to TMZ. Collins has also resigned from the boards of a number of organizations, including the David Lynch Foundation’s Committee for Stress-Free Schools as well as the National Board of the Screen Actors Guild. Even 7th Heaven reruns are being pulled from the air.

While rumors raged last night and early this morning that Collins had shot himself, those turned out to be unfounded. He has yet to comment on the matter, and it seems unlikely that he will.
