Protests in St. Louis continued last night as hundreds of demonstrators ventured to St. Louis University's campus to protest the shooting of Vonderrit Myers last week. Myers, 18, was shot and killed by an unnamed St. Louis police officer last Wednesday.

KSDK reports that a crowd of roughly 200 marched from Shaw, the neighborhood, where Myers was killed, to the campus. Officially dubbed #OccupySLU on social media, the demonstration grew as it drew students out of their dorms, culminating with a sit-in by the clock tower on campus.

Word of the protest spread on social media, earning the attention of the Occupy Wall Street Twitter account:

Speaking with KMOV, Saint Louis University freshman David Gramling said the aim of the protest was to show solidarity between the university and the community. "The goal was to occupy SLU and to kind of wake up the campus, I think there’s a sense in the community that SLU is kinda shut off from what happens outside of SLU," he said. "But this latest incident was six blocks from SLU so it does affect us."

According to a school spokesperson, the protest was executed peacefully. Furthermore, the St. Louis Police Department notes that no arrests were made.
