While we’re still eight days away from Apple’s next big iPad announcement, details of the new iPad Air 2 have supposedly already leaked.

The Michael Report has managed to get its hands on pictures and specs of the newest tablet from Apple, which will be the sixth overall in the iPad line. Here are the main changes they say are coming:

  • The camera will now be 8-megapixels, compared to 5-megapixels on the original iPad Air

  • Touch ID will be built into the home button

  • The gold color option is very much a real thing

  • It will run an Apple A8 processor and have 2 GB of memory, compared with the original’s 1 GB

  • The 16 GB option will be eliminated in favor of 32 GB, 64 GB, and 128 GB

  • It will be 0.5 mm thinner than the previous version

  • The mute switch is gone, and the volume buttons are even further recessed

  • There will be one-row grill speakers, rather than two-row

As if that weren’t enough, via Mashable here are a few of the leaked images of what they say is the iPad Air 2 prototype:

Apple has yet to comment on the leaks, and probably won’t before the October 16 event. However, if the leaks are accurate, these changes could help jumpstart what has been a stagnant market of late.
