20 Years After His Failed First Attempt, Steve Buscemi Finally Appeared on “The Late Show”

Remarkably, Steve Buscemi made the very first "Late Show" appearance of his career last night.

It’s hard to believe that after numerous roles in classic movies like Fargo, Reservoir Dogs, and The Big Lebowski along with five seasons as the star of Boardwalk Empire, Steve Buscemi had never appeared on The Late Show until last night.

It’s not his fault, though. By his own admission, David Letterman botched this one starting back in 1994 when Buscemi was promoting the immortal piece of cinema known as Airheads. Buscemi theorized that he wasn’t funny enough in the pre-show interview and he got bumped as a result, which on the surface kind of makes sense. In 1994, Buscemi was not really known for his work as a funnyman.

Little did they know, however, that they were actually in the presence of a comedic legend. Who else could pull of a scene like this:
