Saturday morning cartoons are officially over. Well, on network television anyway. This morning, the CW aired its weekend block of cartoons for the last time; next week the slot goes to a live-action educational kids block of shows called One Magnificent Morning. As of this week, the CW was airing Sonic XDragon Ball Z and KaiDigimon FusionYu-Gi-Oh! and Cubix.

Back in the day, we used to watch Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Animaniacs, Tiny Toons, Pinky and the Brain, Pokemon, you name it. Before that, our parents watched Johnny Quest, the Flinstones, the Jetsons and other classics. Of course, cable networks like Nickelodeon and various Disney offshoots still have Saturday morning cartoons, but that's just not the same, really. It's the end of an era.
